Since weight loss (including losing inches) is always based on some combination of diet and exercise, I would recommend exercises that work the abdominal muscles, such as crunches, and a diet that includes resveratrol (found in grapes, among other things).

Of course, while spot exercise helps define areas of the body, such as abs, exercise that works the entire body is not to be overlooked. Whole body exercises, such as walking, contribute to increasing endurance, which makes for more productive workouts.
