Why does my first batch of cookies come out nice while later batches get thin?

Your later batches of cookies get thin because the fat in your dough starts to soften/melt if you have left it out while making the early batches; especially if you have a hot oven running in the kitchen.

The way to avoid this happening is ti keep your dough cold in the fridge between batches.
